Freda Matassa, FRSA, MA

Freda Matassa is Director of Matassa Toffolo Ltd Art Collections Management, a museum-standard art consultancy providing advice and practical help for public and private collections. Former Head of Collections Management at Tate Galleries (1999-2006) and Registrar at the Royal Academy of Arts, London, Freda was Chair of the UK Registrars Group and co-founder of the European Registrars Conference.
A well-known expert and teacher on collections management and museum practice, she serves on the EU Collections Mobility and the CEN European Museum Standards projects and advises the UK Minister of Culture on Immunity from Seizure. She has published two books: Museum Collections Management: A Handbook (2011) and Organizing Exhibitions (2014). In 2011 she was named as one of the Top 50 ‘Women to Watch in the Arts’.
